Divine Unity—Unity of Hearts and Purposes

Enter the Consciousness of Your I AM Presence

Part 1

O hearts flooded with the love of God, I am come tonight in answer to your calls and to bring you a breathing and infinite awareness of all the beauty of the immortal threefold flame of life anchored within your hearts.

At this moment, as I come to you, I desire to call your attention to a certain historical character whose name is known to many of you as Nimrod, the individual who attempted to build a tower unto heaven. This tower, also known to many of you, was called the Tower of Babel.

You who are familiar with the history thereof are aware of the fact that Nimrod attempted to gather together the people of the earth and to bring about unity all over the face of the known world. His purposes seemed benign. But the cosmic councils of light observed in his consciousness a materialism in manifestation, and therefore there was a confusion of tongues and a dispersal of the people. They departed thence and the tower did not reach unto heaven.¹

The concept of divine unity, beloved ones, is a vital and fiery concept, because of old it has been said, “Hear, O Israel: The LORD our God is one LORD”² To every man who is a thinking man and to every woman who thinks, the concept of unity seems to be a benign ideal. And therefore, many people are caught up in a net of false goals and false causes simply in the name of holy unity.

But, beloved ones, it is not unity in materialism or in mass consciousness that is needed. But rather is it a divine unity which is best achieved when each individual finds the door that leads to the heart of his own beloved Presence and then (finding the magic key that opens that door, the open door which in truth no man can shut) teaches mankind to go and do likewise. You can thereby unify the world and fulfill not only the dream of Nimrod and of others, but you can also fulfill the most magnificent ascended master dream of the ages, the dream of God-unity.

You have heard it said that in unity there is strength. But remember, beloved ones, this unity must be a divine unity if it is to be infused with a divine strength. A mere unity of form and substance without a unity of hearts and purposes would be most futile to the cosmic purpose and would achieve no other than the gratification of personal aims, interests and curiosities of the human ego. Such a unity could never bring about the freedom the world needs and desires.

Therefore, I am determined tonight to illumine the student body because many of you have called for illumination concerning the fact that there are many metaphysical groups and movements throughout the earth, each one of them seeming to manifest a particular and specific facet of the God-design, and some of you wonder in your hearts as to just why this is so. You wonder how The Summit Lighthouse may be different and what its specific actions and purposes may be.

Well, ladies and gentlemen, I am the Great Divine Director, and my heart beats tonight in order to give you an answer to some of these questions, questions which are really quite simple to answer. Ladies and gentlemen, they are not difficult unless you choose to make them so.

First of all, I ask you, beloved ones, this morning when you arose and decided to depart from your chambers, did you not decide for yourselves what particular garment you wished to wear? I think you did. For most of you are not limited to the choice of only one garment, but many; and for this you ought to be eternally grateful.

But, beloved ones, you are limited to only one garment if you will be vested with eternal righteousness—the robe of righteousness. And therefore, righteousness is not a specific quality which any specific organization can claim, but it is a quality which the entire earth may claim. Each and every man and woman can claim and achieve and attain to the righteousness of God. For it is his gift—the robe of righteousness. But this morning you chose for yourselves as to what specific garment you would wear and, therefore, you fulfilled the election of your own choice.

And now, ladies and gentlemen, I say this: Seeing mankind are limited as to what choice they may make (for wardrobes are somewhat limited, although they may have a hundred garments), I say to you, then, the mankind of earth are likewise somewhat limited as to what particular facet of religious expression they should follow or pattern themselves after. For although there be hundreds and thousands of religions and teachings that have existed, they are still limited in number.

Remember this, beloved ones, for individuals have only a certain specific area of choice. And when the individual feels that the particular religions with which he is familiar do not bring him the specific God-satisfactions which his heart craves, he may then exercise the privilege and prerogative of free will and set about attuning himself with the higher laws to try to find a way that is more perfect.

We have used the God-energies of many of these individuals and have helped them to externalize various metaphysical and spiritual movements for the purposes of expanding the light of God that does not fail. And we have no quarrel with any of them. For they that are perfect, are perfect. They that are not are striving for perfection. Therefore, beloved ones, I would like to point out to those of you who lament the fact that unity does not seem achieved, although it is most desirable, that all of these individual groups are exercising the privilege of their own free will.

Now then, some of you would like to know how the Summit itself, as an organization, fits into this pattern. Well, beloved ones, the Summit is representative of the highest in man—the summit of his own achievement, that which he desires to become. And we do not have the wish to say to mankind, You must belong to this organization in order to attain your ascension. But we hope to make this organization so representative of us that all who do belong to it and practice its precepts with sincerity will make their ascension at the close of this embodiment. I am stating these purposes this night for your benefit. And it is to these specific purposes that I am dedicating myself on behalf of the entire student body and for the fulfillment of the cosmic purpose.

Now then, if (by the dynamism present within the life-streams who are here who are willing to invest their energies and those throughout the world) there comes into manifestation a more than ordinary movement which attracts the millions and multitudes of the earth to its specific functions on behalf of the light, then I am certain that by the expansion of the organization, mankind will be able to find that the summit of human experience can be brought to the attention of mankind through the functions of this particular organization.

And so I am guiding the destiny of this organization. It is my protégé child. It is one that I sponsor personally and one to which I direct my attention. And the reason that I am doing this is because it represents a great eternal hope; and the great eternal hope that it represents, beloved ones, is the hope of all of you and the hope of all mankind. For although they may not know consciously—and I ask you to mark this—the specific purposes of this organization or of the Great White Brotherhood, nevertheless the functions of this endeavor are divinely known and divinely directed.

And therefore, just as breathing is a divine function which automatically takes place within the forms which you wear to sustain the life within your forms, so there are various spiritual exercises which take place in life. Although individuals may not know consciously what the purposes of these are, the fact that they take place automatically fulfills the destiny and purposes of God. And therefore that is enough.

I do admit to you tonight that it would be a most wondrous thing if all of mankind had all knowledge and were able to enter into the heart of God and were able to obtain from the heart of God the fullness of divine wisdom. In the days of old, King Solomon externalized much of the most magnificent wisdom of God. This beloved king exercised this wisdom in his own courts and throughout the nation. And in the annals and chronicles of life, his acts are deserving of record and he has a place there forever.
