I Will Keep the Vow

Part 1

Hail, Sanat Kumara! Hail, Gautama Buddha, Lord of the World! Hail, Maitreya Buddha! Hail, Jesus the Christed One! Hail, messengers of God! Hail, saints of the cosmic cross of white fire! Hail, legions of light, elemental beings of fire, air, water and earth! Hail, evolutions of earth and of the Violet Planet!1 Lo, I am here! I rejoice to be in your midst to receive you into my heart.

O most beloved, you have come from near and from far. But you who quiver with a flame of freedom, you are always in my heart, and I am in the heart of Shamballa. And I am a part of the thread of light that moves from the heart of Lord Buddha to every heart upon this earth of every soul in whom a heart does beat for freedom.

My beloved children of the Sun, I come to intensify, with all who serve the light of the seventh ray, the oncoming wave of the Aquarian age. This light oncoming and intensifying must now intensify in the very physical earth. So I come to be near you who are carriers of such a great light, that even you yourselves do not know or comprehend how your garments flutter in the breezes of the Holy Spirit and emit violet light, violet fragrance—assurance to all people everywhere that freedom, oh, freedom is here. It is here. It is here, O beloved.

And I am here and I am joyous. For in this hour of my coming, I have summoned 144,000 priests and priestesses of the sacred fire. We come to initiate in you the joy of the order of Francis and Clare,2 leading to further initiation under the hierarchy of Melchizedek of which every priest and priestess of the violet flame is a part and an initiate. We come to extend to devotees of the violet flame the opportunity to accelerate in this great joy of obedience to the flame of freedom, of a chaste heart and soul devout in the worship of the eternal flame of life that is free and those whose riches are the abundant life, who prefer to be poor in spirit3 —that is, daily emptied that they might be filled.

So I am come, for the procession of the sacred orders of the seventh ray has always kept the flame of life upon earth, continent by continent. And, my beloved, there has been of late a waning of these orders in the Western church and even in the Eastern, as the youth have not so much desired a life of austerity but of indulgence. Therefore, we must transfer cer tain flames that have been carried in other centuries to you who already carry the flame and yet have not formalized your vows or your understanding of the meaning of these vows.

Vows, my beloved, are most sacred. They bind the soul to a cup that is to be filled. A vow is a chalice in upheld hands held before the I AM Presence that it might be filled. A vow is a chalice that will catch a descending light of a waterfall, of Iguacu4 or Niagara, or of the light of the very own personal you, the Real Self. A vow is always a commitment to be at the right place in time and space.

The vows of our holy orders are not vows of deprivation, except for those who live in the carnal mind. The vows of our orders are self-liberating, for they liberate the soul from fear and worry and indecision and anxiety.

Why, beloved ones, long ago you took the vow to breathe the breath of life! Your desire for life gave you that commit ment to life. So intense was your vow that your being breathes now automatically, as you would say. Well, it is automatic only because you have taken the vow to live. And all of elemental life and the force of the Cosmic Christ within you now imple ments the vow. And by the breath of life you breathe, you see, you are able, then, to go forth and gain other levels of self-mastery. Think what would happen to you if each day upon arising you would have to decide to have your heart beat, your life breathe, to eat, to dress, to consider whether to be or not to be, to work or not to work, to play or not to play, to speak or not to speak and so forth.

I am certain that you can understand that there are certain commitments that open cosmic doorways. Inasmuch as you have made your commitment to live and inasmuch as this life commitment has accorded you spheres of energy called “chakras,” illumination of the mind, access to the infinite mind of God, now would it not be the better part of wisdom to go on and to make further commitments to be more free, more intelligent, to have greater powers and greater light?

Do you see, then, that indeed upon this dark planet certain ones of the sinister bands have inverted the understanding of the holy vow. And they have attacked the vow because they have understood that the vow defeats them in their attempt to drive wedges into the soul and heart and mind.

Consider, then, those who have rebelled against the simple vow of marriage that does not even, in this age, involve the Godhead or the hierarchies of light. It is a simple promise between two people who decide to share their life. But the fallen ones have convinced them that somehow that vow is an interference. Would they but understand that those who are the adherents of the inner vow have a beauty and a joy, a blessedness and a bliss of union that is not shared by those who in their desire to be free have greater bondage. Those who make their vow to God, then, have greater light to share. Those who go further on the Path and take the marriage vow as an initiation on the Path under the Ancient of Days have even greater grace.

And so you see, whatever the level of the experience, so is the release of light. And where there is a limited giving, there is a limited release. For how can the LORD God Almighty vow to give himself when individuals cannot vow to give them selves to him or to each other?

I would like you to consider, then, the limitations of an absence of love’s promise fulfilled in your life and the unlim ited use of the word that comes to those who are able to see in a promise the ultimate expression of love for God, for friend, for child, for wife, for husband. Let us speak, then, of the promise of the chela.

As I speak, won’t you make yourselves comfortable and be seated.

Trust—it is the foundation of this noble land. See how the hand of God has prevailed to keep the ancient motto, “In God we trust”—not as a defense of religion, per se, but as the defense of tradition. How true! How true! For the culture of the Mother and the four cosmic forces is a culture that begins with the flame of trust. Not outer actions but inner trust is the judgment of the vibration of the small and the great.

The four cosmic forces, which are present whithersoever the Lamb is incarnate, keep the trust. They are the four pillars that sustain Matter and Spirit. Hierarchies beyond hierarchies are a part of the light emanation that goes by the outer sign of the lion, the calf, the face of a man and a flying eagle.5 These symbols contain signs of cosmic forces. Were they suddenly to break the trust it would be as though a wash line strung from planet to planet were suddenly broken and all would come tumbling down. Can you imagine such a breach of trust? It is unimaginable. And yet, each time a friend breaks a promise you feel as though your world has come tumbling down.

Even the “word” is extolled as the honor of the self in the Boy Scouts and the Girl Scouts of America. The word is the instrument of the vow of the heart to love. When you say, “I will,” whether it is before the altar in any of the seven sacraments of God or whether it is between yourself and God in prayer or friend to friend, consider and listen well to your heart. Do you make a promise because you would give or receive flattery? Or do you make a promise because you will see through that spiral from beginning to end?

Let children be raised up to daily carry certain commitments —household chores, studies, prayers —and laughter and fun and freedom. Let them understand that life is the great dharma.6 Oh, the dharma as the penetration of the teacher and the teaching! Oh, the dharma as scintillating sacred fire interpenetrating all of substance! It is the duty of God ful filled —his promise to be his fulfillment of that promise.

Let little children experience the trust in the care for another part of life —beings of the elements, playmates in the animal kingdom and one another. Let them learn how the life of a plant or a tiny rabbit may increase by their love and care and regular food and sunshine or may be decreased by neglect. The value placed upon the care of life and even inanimate objects is training for the keeping of the trust of the universe.

Does it seem that in so little a question of day-to-day fulfillment of commitments that the little child could grow to become an avatar, a cosmic being, a holder of a million billion strands of light that hold together a galaxy? Well, my beloved, I would tell you a story, for I am that child.

Long, long ago upon my mother’s knee I learned to ultimately understand the sacred alchemy of caring for life. And my mother taught to me what I would teach to you. She taught to me the blessed worth of my soul and the goal of that soul to unite with the living Spirit. She placed upon the wall of my room a painting she had painted of a giant violet-flame sphere. And she told me, “That sphere is the place where you will one day go. You will rise into that sphere, my son. And when you do, you will have a power of freedom and a gift to bestow to all of your playmates and to many others.”

And so, as I gazed upon her painting of that sphere, it was a tender reminder of my mother’s words. A simple symbol, yet to me it was an image that came alive in my meditation as I played with geometric forms that were my toys. I laughed with other girls and boys. I played as many of you play. But in my heart there was a violet sphere because my mother’s hand had cared enough to paint that sphere for me. It was a means whereby she conveyed to me her love, her inner attainment, her knowledge of the Great Causal Body and the I AM THAT I AM. And thus, though I meditated upon its bright color, I, in reality, was meditating upon the attainment of my mother and at once my very own God Self.

And so it was in little ways and then in greater and greater ways that I learned to keep the trust and to take the respon sibilities at hand. And I saw how my teachers and my parents were mindful that each successive promise, each successive trust was a challenge to sharpen my strength, my ability to hold a greater chalice.

And, therefore, in the promise there was always the element that because I loved I must agree to do just a little bit more than I had done the day before, else I would not mount the inner spiral of joy. And somehow, doing those things that I could already do held no joy for me. For I felt the mounting light of freedom and I knew, that once I had given myself and my promise and fulfilled a vow, on the morrow I must have another challenge, another commitment. I must agree within myself to win a race, to give a speech, to present a work of art and then I must do it again, better and better. I must prove to myself many things —that I could decide within my heart to do something, to do anything and that I would not be moved until I accomplished that thing.

Beloved ones, this is reason enough to keep your word to yourself. If you have not honor within yourself, how will you have honor with one another? Sometimes when you make a promise to yourself that no one hears, or you think that no one hears, and then as the day goes by and the challenge to keep that promise becomes difficult you say, “Oh, well, I will do it another day since no one has heard and no one will be disturbed if I do not do it this day.”

But you see, beloved ones, you have created a habit. And habits wound round and round the coil of being, as Maitreya has taught, often become binding. And do you know that some of you have a greater momentum of breaking your promises to yourself than you have of keeping them? And often you are much more diligent about keeping promises to people of the world than in keeping promises to your mighty I AM Presence, to the ascended masters or to the messengers.

“The Summit Lighthouse Sheds Its Radiance o’er All the World to Manifest as Pearls of Wisdom.”

This dictation by Omri-Tas was delivered by the Messenger of the Great White Brotherhood Elizabeth Clare Prophet on Saturday, June 30, 1979, during the five-day Freedom conference, The Coming Revolution in Higher Consciousness, held at Camelot, Los Angeles County, California.

1. Omri-Tas, the ruler of the Violet Planet, has revealed that the evolutions of the Violet Planet had once approached a similar crisis as that faced today by the people of planet Earth. In response to the rallying call of the representative of the Divine Mother, the servants of God were galvanized and turned the tide by the violet flame. Omri-Tas makes his abode with the Lord of the World at Shamballa (over the Gobi desert), where he and his retinue of servants of the Most High God have vowed to keep the violet flame of freedom on planet Earth, while his divine complement keeps the vigil in the heart of the Violet Planet with one hundred and forty-four thousand priests of the sacred fire. These priests may be called upon at any time for an intense and fiery release of the violet flame on behalf of mankind and the elemental kingdom. See The Masters and Their Retreats, Mark L. Prophet and Elizabeth Clare Prophet, pp. 249-53.

3. Matt. 5:3.

4. Iguacu Falls in Brazil is over two miles wide and consists of numerous waterfalls 200 feet or more in height. In 1973, the Queen of Light said the inner meaning of the word Iguacu in hierarchy was “I AM, I was, I shall be.” She added,“This is the message of flowing water. This is the message of movement, of undulation of currents, of the rhythm of cosmos, of the eternal flow.”

5. Rev. 4:7.

6. Dharma is your duty to fulfill your reason for being, to be who you really are in God, to realize the fullest potential of God within yourself. The messenger has taught that dharma is “why God created us, what he sent us as our mission. Duty is a very important principle on the spiritual path. We all have a duty in life. We cannot escape it.”
