I Will Keep the Vow
Part 2
There is an order of priority in promises and in vows. And there is no vow that supersedes your vow to God. All other vows must come into alignment. And if you have erroneously given your word and you later discover that that word is promoting error or disease or death, a greater commitment to life and to Almighty God will cancel the previous vow and intensify the light that will transmute the karma you have made and even extend to those who may be a part of that commitment both blessing and wisdom and understanding so that none are hurt.
But if the carnal mind must be hurt for the sake of the mind of God and the Person of God, I say, then, who will decide to hurt the Almighty and hence the Self in place of someone’s carnal mind? For, after all, Elohim do not extend grace to the carnal mind. If you agree to steal and then discover that this is unreal and will lead to your own unreality, will you have the honor of thieves or will you overthrow and expose and bring truth that will liberate their souls and yours?
These questions of the ethic and the morality of life are very pertinent to the holy orders of the Great White Brotherhood. For the holy orders represent the sacrament of the seventh ray of the soul’s reunion with God by a certain vowed discipline and a certain avowed love.
Do not fear, my beloved, for I have not come this night to exact from you a single promise that you are not able to give. But I exact from you a promise that you know that you can and will keep. I exact from you a promise that you shall make to your own heart. Let it be simple, uncomplicated and one that you know is clearly within your capacity. If you have no greater capacity than to commit to give a single decree once a day, then do not make a greater promise than this. For I am giving you a fundamental exercise that is the beginning lesson on the Violet Planet in the very earliest of years—that the individual make no promise to himself that he cannot keep, that he keep that promise until he is weary of that level and desires to keep a greater promise.
Thus, promises are not made out of a giant leap that is not calculated to be kept but out of the step by step, left, right, forward march of an individual who is secure in the integrity of his own being, who is determined to march all the way home to God, and who has the sense of the honor of life within him that he would not engage frivolously in the fantasy of suddenly making all kinds of commitments that will only—when they fail—lower his self-esteem and drive him further into guilt and shame and self-condemnation that he will one day heap upon another because he can no longer contain that negativity within himself.
Ah, yes, we understand the distress and the psychology of souls who have for far too long not made any vow. And, therefore, they do not know how to assess the ability of the flexibility of the muscle, the heart, the mind, the soul.
Beloved ones, keep the goal. And when you are deciding whether or not to keep the promise you have made to yourself, do not begin to question the promise on the basis of its pragmatic outcome, saying to yourself whether it is of matter or not that you perform that work this day. What matters is that you prove to yourself that through thick and thin, through virtue or sin, through good karma or a negative return, you can walk with the same determined gait, the same intensity of light and bring your goals to fruition at the prescribed date and hour.
Now you will begin the understanding of precipitation into the physical octave. Begin as children. Walk step by step. Then you will not be overcome by the awesome responsibilities of Solar Logoi in the Central Sun. We have not asked you to become Alpha and Omega in a day. But surely you can produce more than a blade of grass.
I tell you, there are elementals on this very property who consider it their supreme responsibility and challenge to produce a single blade of grass. And they go about their task with great reverence for life and joy, even excitement when you pass and notice that blade of grass or place your foot upon it and it becomes as velvet to your step. They are satisfied, for they have kept the trust.
Do not, then, go so far beneath your level of attainment as to be ashamed of your accomplishments. Do not go so far beyond that you are ashamed of your lack of accomplishment. But plow a straight furrow. Place your eye upon the seed of light that God now seals within your soul chakra. This seed of light is the seed of the archetype of your Christ image. It is as a mustard seed. And, therefore, Jesus Christ gave the parable that if you would have faith as a grain of mustard seed, you could accomplish all things and move mountains.1 Well, the seed is your Christ-potential. And in your soul there is now, in this moment, a quickening of that which you can be.
Little children, I speak to you, hear me—and children of all ages. For there is a seed in your soul. It is that magnificent design and portrait of your own Real Self. As you look upon it in all of its resplendent glory and you say, “Why, I am and this is who I am,” notice in your heart what qualities are most distinctive, most appealing, greatest to be desired. And then say to yourself not, “Oh, I wish I could be like that blessed Christ Self.” No, say to yourself, “Why, there I am. I am made in the image of the living Christ. I will look in the mirror and I will sculpt within my soul a precious treasure. And I will take the vow to outpicture a singular virtue because it is the virtue of my Real Self designed by God to be the real me.”
And so, you see, every vow you make ought to be made to realize more of that Real Self. When you do this, then every commitment you make to God, to self, to friend will further the goal of every other lifestream becoming his Real Self. All for one and one for all. Every vow will bless everyone of the community of the keepers of the flame.
These simple lessons come out of the violet flame, my beloved. The violet flame is the great instrument of the transfer of the teachings of the soul. And all of the hierarchies of the seventh ray for the seventh age use these simple teachings that can be understood and loved by children and the mature alike.
Thus, when I say you will make a vow, it is a vow that involves your decision to be real. Before you make your vow this night, list on a page or many pages the decisions you have made and carried through and brought to fruition. Why, you will discover how many things you have decided upon and realized. And thus, you will have greater confidence. Then again, some of you will look upon your life and not be so pleased, as you have started here and there again and again and tried to do those things in the human way that could only be done in the divine way. And then you’ll realize, at your present age, that you desire to have more accomplishment behind you than you really do.
These are important moments, especially in the hour of summer solstice when you are so close to the Universal Mother. For it is Mother who makes you stop a moment and take stock and review. Looking then to the left and right, you will know. You will know the promise you must make to your self in order to preserve your God-identity. And I daresay I think there is not one keeper of the flame present or absent who would make the decision not to be!
And, therefore, you must see that if you do not make a decision as a vow to be something more today than you were yesterday, you will have surrendered a portion of the Self by your not-decision. For life demands acceleration. And that which does not accelerate, decelerates. And that which decelerates enters the downward spiral of death. There is no choice. You must be more today than you were yesterday and more tomorrow than you were today.
All things are possible to those who love God. Love him enough, then, to give a little more of yourself by promise, by vow, by commitment. For only when you seal your vow at the altar does God allow legions of light and Omega to assist you in the implementation of your sacred labor, your intent, your plan. Is this, then, not why so many plans go awry? Because the commitment is not first made to the living God.
Beloved ones, a certain mother has taught your messenger, when she was a little child and seeking to multiply substance for that flame of blessed independence, that in the pursuit of the selling of violets there must be first a kneeling in prayer and the dedication to God that the selling of violets was to his glory and that the few coins given by neighbors here and there for the gift of violets would be used in the service of God.
This we reminisce because the messenger had almost forgotten that precious moment of the little child kneeling in prayer. For in that moment of the gathering and the distributing of the violets in her childhood was the transfer of the flowers of my heart and of Saint Germain, because a certain mother had the love and the wisdom to train the little child to pray before beginning any endeavor. And so, the gathering and selling of violets became a ritual of interaction with angels, elementals and a distribution of joy. Without that prayer, neither I nor Saint Germain nor Zadkiel could have entered into that experience.
Let those who, then, pursue business in this life begin each day with a prayer of consecration. And let all under stand that this prayer of dedication of the work at hand is truly the open door for the cooperation of angels, elementals and men. May it be so, for the Trinity will flow through the three kingdoms.2
And I am here to let glow violet-flame spheres, which I hurl into the years for transmutation, past and present and future. May all your years and cycles be violet-flame years. May this violet flame cast out fear and dry every tear and bring you to the point of precipitation of the Holy Spirit. And may the ritual of the violet-flame saints always be more important in and of itself than the fruit of action. For only then will the fruit of action be to your God-satisfaction.
I am Omri-Tas. I have bathed you in my causal body as I have given to you a little story of my hope in glory. So I began as a little child, and so I am making the vow to earth to keep the flame of freedom until every soul of worth is ascended and free. This is my vow and my trust. By God’s grace and only by God’s grace, I will keep the vow!

We are immensely joyous in the presence of Omri-Tas and beloved Kuan Yin.3 And it appears that the miracle solution of the age is the violet flame. [14-second applause]
It’s funny, I had completely forgotten about this episode of selling violets when I was very little—going into the woods and picking for hours and hours bunches of violets and taking them with a playmate and going door to door offering these violets for sale, and the playmate’s mother being the wise one who held us in prayer for our mission—a very lovely, Christian woman who inspired that prayer. I remember how the dog and the cat who went with us also had to kneel in prayer—put their little paws together and off they went.
It’s wonderful to know how little children can be so much a part of the innocence of a cosmos. Isn’t that quality of innocence in Omri-Tas so beautiful when it is the mature crystal, still so innocent? Innocence, I think, is the ability to appreciate and enjoy the very simple truths of life and to take a childlike enjoyment and happiness out of these very precious pearls that he has brought to us and then to realize they’re not so simple. But they are really the wisdom of the ages.
