In Defense of the Mental Quadrant
I Demand That the Mass Media Be Employed
to Proclaim the Truth of Almighty God!
Part 1
Hail, legions of Mercury! Hail, sun centers! I AM Michael, and I come in defense of the mental quadrant!1
I come to defend the conception of truth upon the planetary body. I come to defend the communicators of truth and all who serve under the hierarchy of Mercury, all who serve in order for light to flow through the media, through mass communication to the evolutions of this planetary home.
I come with my sword of blue flame raised high for the action of cutting free mankind from the oppression of the false logic of the carnal mind and the deceits that have been practiced by the rebellious ones against innocent child-man century after century after century.
Lo, I come! Lo, I stand in your midst! And my legions stand with me, arrayed in light to cleanse you, to free the mind and to make you whole!
This is the hour when cosmic cycles converge for the dissolution of those factors of darkness that have been as floating cells of darkness, preventing the flow of the crystal diamond-shining mind of God.
You have heard of Mercury. You have heard of the winged messenger of the gods.2 Well, I say unto you that our messenger and all who have preceded her come under the lineage of those who have served as messengers to humanity, who have served on behalf of those beings of light who dispense graces and gifts of the Holy Spirit unto mankind.
Therefore Mercury himself is no figment of the imagination. No mythological figure is he but the living, breathing awareness of the flow of energy currents and of truth from the mind of God to the heart of man. Thus the helmet of Mercury and the wings of the mind show the freedom that can be yours to move in the mental quadrant if you will align your energies with the legions of Archangel Michael and with those who have stood in defense of truth throughout the ages.
O mankind, what virtue is in the heart of the man or the woman who refuses to compromise truth, who stands with the legions of the cosmic honor guard and will not compromise when there is an opportunity [to do so], when there are those situations that come into the life of every individual where it is easy to compromise for the sake of rising to fame and to power as a personality in the world. This is the beginning of the compromise of the mental quadrant.
When the rebellious ones insert the seeds of pride, then they can move mankind on their chessboards by the patterns of flattery and the adornment of the ego. Like the proverbial emperor with his new clothes, this becomes the plight of those among mankind who think they are garbed in white and in beautiful raiment, following the mode of the day, when they are naked and without the wedding garment. They are naked without the seamless energies that flow from the Christ as the silk of purity, as the chiffon of beauty that comes from the pure in heart and from those who have understood the meaning of sacrifice. For to sacrifice the ego that the Divine One might appear, this is the need of the hour.
My legions are commissioned by God to defend the faith in the hearts of children, in the hearts of people everywhere. My legions go forth to decontaminate this mental quadrant, to consume the lies of the rebellious ones and the envy of those minds which covet the accomplishments of others. They covet because they know not that they, too, came forth from the same Source, the same One who can impart to one and all those gifts and graces and talents in abundance.
But, you see, precious hearts, the work of these legions must be limited by mankind’s own free will. For if mankind, by their free will, espouse darkness and the sense of separation and continue in the ways of pride and rebellion, then the pollution of the mental quadrant is beyond the control of even cosmic beings. For mankind must understand that the responsibility for light upon the planet rests solely with those who are in embodiment upon this planetary home.
In the Beginning God gave to you the authority to take dominion over the earth! God has not yet taken back unto himself that authority!
And therefore, if you desire the intercession of emissaries of God, of archangels, of cosmic beings and ascended hosts of light, you must be willing to daily make the call in the name of the Christ, in the name of your own God Presence and by the authority which God has vested within you.
This is the action of free will! And by the correct use of free will you can see, in this age, the day when every man and every woman shall sit under his own vine and fig tree3 and “they shall all know me, from the least of them unto the greatest of them, saith the Lord.”4 For I shall be unto them that pillar of fire by night, that cloud of witness by day.5 I shall be there in the midst of the Garden as the Tree of Life, and the leaves of the tree are for the healing of the nations.6
I AM the Defender of the Faith! And as I have come to you before and have said, “Give me your doubts and I will give you my faith,”7 so I say it once again this day:
By the power of the spoken Word I release into the forcefield of the throat chakra of every one the full-gathered momentum of my faith, of my devotion to the will of God!
And I say, if you will now silently say in your heart: “Archangel Michael, I give to you my doubts and my fears, my unbelief and my lack of constancy,” and if you will surrender that substance unto me as your reasonable sacrifice unto the Lord, then I shall gladly take it and absorb it into my being until it is transmuted by the fiery action of my heart’s devotion to faith in the supremacy of the will of God —throughout cosmos, throughout eternity, throughout every cell and atom of your being, consciousness and world.
So, then, to the legions of my angels I say: Draw now these unwanted energies and vibrations from those who gladly offer them, and let that energy be this day a token of love and an assertion before the Almighty that some among mankind have determined to bend the knee, to confess the Christ, and to come up higher in the realization of the great work which we are about.
As I am speaking to you, the Great Teams of Conquerors (cosmic beings who have come from other worlds), are now engaged in disengaging the entanglements of the skeins of mortal thought and consciousness which contaminate the mental belt of the planet.
You have heard of the Fallen One. You have heard of the betrayal of the one called Lucifer and of the angels who fell with him. Some of you have questioned in your heart whether the devil can be real or whether he is the figment of some men’s imagination. Others have sought to make the devil subjective and to say that the only devil there is is the devil that is in the hearts of men.
Well, I say then, if this be true, how did he get into the hearts of men and where did evil come from? Did God create it?
I say emphatically, No, he did not! And if he did, we should all go home and we should all remove ourselves from this cosmos. For we would no longer desire to inhabit a forcefield where the closer we should approach the altar of the living God, the closer we should approach the creator of the Evil One. This is not so! Yet I tell you that the dark ones would have you believe it.
The energy veil is the fabrication of the minds of those who have departed from God’s throne and from the grace of the threefold flame. The energy veil that you call “evil” is outside of the framework of Reality. It cannot exist concurrently with Reality. Therefore those who identify with that which is unreal must, perforce, be outside of the being of God.
Is this not how you feel when you enter into darkness and deceit and the turmoil of compromise and dishonor? Do you not also begin to feel unreal and lost in a miasma, a labyrinth that is a nightmare of chaos and confusion?
This is not life! This is not love! This is not God! Therefore, let go! Let go of illusion! It has no hold upon you save the tenacity of your own human stubbornness. Let go!
What have you to fear in the presence of Michael? What have you to fear in the presence of our God?
I say, then, the Archdeceiver [Lucifer], who was once a bearer of great light and an archangel, looked upon himself in his reflection in the clear pool and he began to admire the self and to forget that the Real Self is God. He began to worship and to adore the prowess of his own mind, of his own ability.
In this state, ambition waxed strong and the delusion of the unreal self—the delusion of doing the work of the Creator better than the Creator—came upon him. And by logic and by argument this Archdeceiver was able to convince vast numbers of legions of angels that his way was the way of righteousness and that all other members of hierarchy were, in fact, wrong. Thus this period of history, of cosmic history, is known as the period of the Great Rebellion.
The contamination of worlds followed, and the edict went forth that this Archdeceiver should be cast down into the earth, and his angels with him.8 And therefore these legions of angels, together with their leader, were cast into the quadrants of Matter. They were no longer allowed to dwell in the planes of Spirit, for they were a contamination in the heaven-world. And the Lord God himself stood forth and pronounced the words “Thus far and no farther, O thou Fallen One. Go down into the place of initiation where there is granted to you a time and certain times for repentance and for return to my heart.”
Thus the fall of Lucifer came about, and into the four planes of Mater came the fallen ones to inhabit the lower etheric, the astral, the mental, and even the physical quadrants. And thus a portion of these rebellious ones took on flesh forms. They came under the law of reembodiment and they have been reembodying upon the planet Earth for thousands of years since that event.
Others have remained in the astral plane, the plane of the desire body, and they have served as coordinates of those in the physical octave. At this astral level came the one called Lucifer to dwell there, to taunt mankind through both the mental quadrant and the emotional quadrant. But the key to his temptation was, and has been to this hour, the use of man’s own mind against himself.
Therefore that which is called the carnal mind, that point of darkness in mankind, is the coordinate of the Fallen One himself. And as long as mankind continue to identify with the carnal mind, they may be at any hour the unwitting tool of the dark ones. And as mankind forsake the carnal mind and return to the fullness of the Christ mind, they occupy the position of being the instrument of the Lord Christ himself in the hierarchy of light.
Thus the command rang forth, “Let that mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus”9—a warning from Solar Lords that unless mankind entertain the Christ mind, they may very well be victimized by their own carnal mind, which equates with the mind of Lucifer.10

This dictation by Archangel Michael was delivered by the Messenger of the Great White Brotherhood Elizabeth Clare Prophet on Thursday, April 11, 1974, during the Easter class, The Convocation of the New Birth in the City of the Angels, held at the Ambassador Hotel, Los Angeles, California. 1. The mental quadrant refers to the mental body, one of the four lower bodies, or sheaths, providing vehicles for the soul in her journey through time and space. The mental body is intended to be the vessel of the mind of God, the Christ mind. As the apostle Paul wrote, “Let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus.” (Phil. 2:5) Until this body is quickened, it remains the vehicle for the lower mental body, for the human will and human intellect, the carnal mind; self-awareness without the Christ mind, and the animal nature of man. 2. Mercury, a god in Roman myths and religion, is often depicted wearing winged sandals and a winged hat. He was revered as the messenger of the gods as well as the god of merchants, commerce, travelers, and of everything requiring nimbleness and skill.
