The Gift of My Sword of Blue Flame
Part 1
Hail, lightbearers of old! Hail, students of faith! Fear not, for I AM come. The heart of Michael is come. I AM in the flaming sword of the will, which you have forged.
I AM come in light to deliver unto you the mandate of your own life, your own will, and your own love. I have fashioned a sword of blue flame. That sword of blue flame I have also placed in the hand of the Mother. Do you not think that I can also place a sword of blue flame in the hand of those who would be among Michael’s legions, forerunners in the race?
Well, I come to you this day to forge that sword. And therefore I must ask you to place in my hand the fruits of your communion with my flame, for a sword of blue flame is yours to gain by victory. And therefore I take the light of the chakra of the will of God. I take the light of your love. I fashion a sword of blue flame by your hope, by your faith, by your charity, and by the wisdom that is anchored because you have persevered.
Now, you would not be satisfied if I should return to you a sword of blue flame the size of a toothpick! But can you not understand that if all that you give to me is a toothpick’s worth of faith, hope, and charity, then that is all that I can give to you?
Would you like another day and another day to go forth and to do a little better so that when Michael comes you will have the wherewithal to forge the sword? Can you not understand that in life there are cycles and there are cycles?
This day I have come. This day the law of being exacts from you the net gain of your meditation upon God, not only in this retreat but through all the cycles of living in and out of God, as you have been wont to do. And therefore my angels stand before you. They are collecting now that substance and that energy, and you will have to be content. For after all, you have had free will, ever the great gift of God. And ere this dictation has been fulfilled, these blue-flame angels will return to you that forcefield of living flame that is yours to use in defense of light.
Be of good cheer! For we do not acknowledge limitation, whether in time and space or out of time and space. Even if your sword be a toothpick, it will be a replica of my sword fashioned after the inner blueprint and you may draw it close to your heart as a focus and as a replica. And you can know that even with that—that tiny forcefield—you can strike a mighty blow for the LORD and for the LORD’s children.
For I, Michael, will place into your hand my sword of blue flame, my momentum. This is my gift to those who would be chelas of Archangel Michael—the Guru and the chela on the Path together, the Guru assuming the responsibility for the life of the chela; the chela assuming responsibility for the life of the Guru.
Will you, then, take responsibility for my life on earth? This is the question that you must consider ere all of the sands in the hourglass have run out and you find yourself in that position to go forth to conquer.
I have the courage to stand before you. Be of good cheer! It is I! I stand before you in the flame of Christ. I stand before you with the courage to defend life and to serve the will of God where I AM. I have the courage to stand for you, to vouchsafe your souls unto God. The question then is, do you have the courage to do the same, to realize that God on earth is the God flame within you and that that God flame within you is the open door for heavenly hosts to enter earth?
This is the divine exchange. To penetrate the octaves of Spirit, you require the open door of the ascended masters’ consciousness. For us to penetrate the octaves of Matter, we require the open door of your heart. And therefore Jesus does stand at that door and knock. And I stand with him, and I come!
Let us give the example so obvious, perhaps unthinkable to you. But I want you to understand that our messenger always has the choice to receive the dictation or not to receive the dictation. And therefore our messenger, in deliberation this day in communion with me, was given the moment to decide to leave this temple or to remain to give this dictation. By surrender and submission she came to the platform. By that surrender I AM come. By that surrender I speak to you, and you can know the thoughts and the feelings of my heart.
Understand that you are all messengers of Archangel Michael in some form. When you give your invocations, when you give forth the spoken Word, when you make your decision to serve or not to serve, you are giving answer unto the LORD’s bidding. The LORD comes and knocks and says, “I need an instrument. I would speak to the people. I would forge a cosmic union. I would build a community. I would teach the Law. Will you have me? Will you be my instrument?”
And then you give answer and you say, “Yea, LORD!” or you say, “Nay, LORD!” And usually with the “Nay, LORD” you give your excuses, endless excuses.
I would like you to know that when you begin your excuses, my angels of blue lightning take their leave. They do not remain to listen to the excuses. They have heard the freewill pronouncement, “Nay, LORD.” And it is not that they are rude. It is simply that they have other fields to conquer, other souls to meet in the way of life to challenge, to reprove, and to infuse with the light of the cosmic will. And therefore they cannot remain. But the angels of record remain, and they write the answer.
This is perhaps unthinkable to you, when you look at the lives of the ascended masters, of Jesus and of Mary and of all who have come now who are filled with the glory of the centuries whereby they are glorified and again beatified, and rightly so. Yet I tell you, they were humble also as you, and many of the prophets even resemble you in countenance and in stature. These ones also had the choice.
I say again that it may be unthinkable to you that Jesus could have chosen not to be crucified, that Mary could have chosen not to be the mother, that Joseph could have chosen to leave mother and child and to go and do whatever he would do. But he remained as the guardian of the flame of mother and child and therefore they survived through Egypt and in the return.
And therefore Jesus grew and had the example of father, learned to be the carpenter, learned the sacred labor. And because Mary taught him on her knee, he understood the inner movement of energy and the great flow of life in the baking of the bread and the sewing of the garments and in every example of life with mother and with father.
I come, and I come again. And I am determined that in this season of the Christ Mass I will convince you, I will infuse you, and I will determine that you will understand that every decision you make in your family, in life, in the community is a decision that is made as to whether to open the door for God to speak through you, to work through you, or to withdraw—to withdraw into a void, to withdraw into a not-self consciousness, into the state of procrastination.
If I AM come this hour, then why postpone the hour of my coming unto the night or another day? If you are come this hour, then why postpone your coming to another moment when you think you will know more of God?
Well, I come to tell you that you must not expect to know more of God than you know in this very moment, for God has given to you a portion of himself. That portion is within you—that God knows God and knows who God is.
You have got to let go and let God be in you the faith and the power and the will and the determination! Why do you tarry in your discussions with those gremlins that attack the mind? If you are filled with the flame of service, if God has a work to do in you and you have a work to do in him, you are in the motion of light. And the whirling of light in consciousness is the consuming on contact of those forces that assail the mind.
But then, you see, the idle mind is the devil’s workshop because that idle mind is the idling of that buzz saw that must be whirling, whirling with the speed of light—pushing through, pushing through! God has commissioned you! God has given you the flame of the Law!
“And well,” you ask, “why have you not spoken to us yet, Archangel Michael? Finally, you have come!”1 So you rebuke me in your heart that I have not yet come! Well, I say, I have come! I have been with you every day! I have come to speak the word of the teaching and I have come in your own consciousness. I have been waiting for you to recognize my presence and I have been waiting for your resolution to determine that you would forge your light in me. Nevertheless I have come. For if I would tarry to wait for the last one to confirm the light, I would be tarrying with the centuries.
Therefore I AM come. I AM come at the appointed hour. And I AM the servant of the Divine Mother and I choose to tell you this day that wherever I go—because of the service that I have rendered unto her children—the Divine Mother precedes me with a procession of temple virgins and of those ones who carry the flame from the altar of Alpha.
And therefore the Divine Mother, even Omega, goes before the legions of Michael. She is our star! She is our hope! And it is because we see the face of Mother and worship at the altar of the Mother that we can serve her children twenty-four hours a day.
Do you understand what it means in the heart of an archangel and the many angelic hosts of light to look upon the face of Mary or of Omega or of Nada or of Pallas Athena and to see the pain in the expression of the Mother as her glance rests upon children who are suffering in their self-deceptions, who are crying out, even blaspheming the name of God, cursing God and then working their works as the iniquitous ones do work?
And therefore it is because we see the face of the Mother that we go forth in defense of her children. Therefore I came. I came at great sacrifice, even of very life itself, to defend the Woman and her seed.
In that moment of choosing utterly the surrender of God because of the will of God, I chose to forsake a portion of myself, a very dear portion of myself because that portion of myself was not confirmed in the will of God. And therefore I had to choose whom I would serve. And therefore I renounced even that portion of myself in favor of the love of the Mother. And because of that love, millions and millions of souls have come into the newness of life, have walked the path of the Brotherhood, have earned the ascension and will return to the heart of Almighty God.
If you would know that an angel weeps, I tell you indeed, I have felt the tears burning upon my face as I have watched the beloved fall from grace and move into the consciousness of separation from God and the challenging of God. I want you to know that I stand before you with the courage of God, not having failed to undergo the testings that you are now undergoing, and that because of that choice I can stand to defend life. You cannot forever avert the gaze of the eye of the Virgin Mother or of the choice to be or not to be.
Children of the Sun, when you determine that there is nothing more important than God, then life comes into order, then the alignment of cosmic forcefields. Then you receive the approbation and the infusion of light, of the energies of heaven and earth—the power, the wisdom, and the love to serve evolutions in this system and beyond.
I AM Archangel Michael! I can assure you that in order to retain the very name and the forcefield of that consciousness, I have had to defend that flame Mī-kee-el against all enemies of the Christ and all enemies of the flaming sword of blue.
Because I live in God, you yet have the opportunity to live in God. What of the others who will come after you? Will they have opportunity to live and to move in God, or will you deny it by denying God this day?
You cannot escape this choice. You cannot rationalize this choice. You laugh at this sword. Do you doubt that God has the ability to infuse the very stones beneath your feet with a flame of fire?
I say, do not doubt. For one of these days you will find a spontaneous combustion of fire bursting forth beneath your feet and even in your heart and soul, and you will wonder if the last plagues are upon you. You will wonder what is coming upon the earth. And you will know that that God whom you have mocked, whom you have threatened, whom you have pushed to the corner of the universe, will speak when he will speak, will act when he will act, will come forth from the very core of your being to execute the judgment.

This dictation by Archangel Michael was delivered by the Messenger of the Great White Brotherhood Elizabeth Clare Prophet on Sunday, December 12, 1976, during a Sunday service in Pasadena, California.
1. This dictation was the first dictation given by Archangel Michael during the fall quarter of Summit University, which began on September 27, 1976, and was sponsored by Archangel Michael. It was the first quarter sponsored by the archangels. Although given at a Sunday service, this dictation was largely directed to the Summit University student body. Many of the 150 students who attended Archangel Michael’s quarter went on to serve in teaching centers and in other avenues of service in support of the ascended masters through The Summit Lighthouse.
