The Last Word Is Not the Lost Chord
It Is All a Matter of Alchemy
Part 1
Good friends of the will of God, I AM grateful that I can have the last word and that the last word is indeed not the lost chord. For had I lost my chord, I could not speak to you.
[Laughter]
I come for a fireside chat, and some of you have enjoyed these chats by the fires in the library in Darjeeling, when you have come to our home of light and to our Temple of Good Will.1 We have entertained the world’s statesmen in our retreat, and we have received the humble chela. We have received all whose love for the will of God has been greater than the love for the will of the lesser self.
We come, then, to discuss with you matters of chelaship and of the chela becoming the representative of the will of God in levels of service to the earth in your home communities.
So often we have seen that our chelas have such an awareness of what is taking place in the physical octave that even we ourselves have applied to the momentum of information at the fingertips of the chela in order to know and to determine what levels of research should be carried on by members of our staff here in Darjeeling, who are initiates for the ascension—chelas who are dwelling in the etheric plane preparing for a final incarnation for the victory.
We have noticed that the information held by lightbearers is often very important for the angels and the initiates of the retreats of the Great White Brotherhood to have in those hours of the day in which they give their energies for constructive use in the physical plane.
We have also noticed that our chelas, many of them, know a great deal more of what is transpiring on earth than the average citizen. And while many mistakes are made by members of government simply because of their ignorance, our chelas at home, who are giving decrees and working for the world, have far more information and understanding of the forces at work. We often wish that these chelas might be present with a number of citizens who are concerned and yet know not which way to turn because they have not the foundation in cosmic law. And it is upon that foundation that they make the right choice when it comes to the vote, to the decision, and to the planning of life on earth.
First, then, on our agenda is to begin classes on cosmic law held here at our retreat in Darjeeling for chelas in all of the light activities and for those who are dedicated in every walk of life. A common foundation in cosmic law is necessary. This foundation is also being presented at Summit University, and that course will be augmented by information passed from our retreat to the messenger and her assistants.
Then, when a certain body of lightbearers have this foundation, we would like to see these individuals who are in incarnation make themselves more available and more accessible to the community* without compromising their chelaship or the path of the ascension.
This obligation, duty, or dharma, as you may call it, to serve in the community and yet maintain one’s level of cosmic consciousness has long been the dilemma of chelas on the Path. For there do not seem to be enough hours in the day for the lightbearer to accomplish all of his decrees and service and yet to still be a part of public life.
We are concerned, and as we have reviewed even the schedules of some of our chelas living in the cities across America and in the teaching centers, we have seen that if a chela truly desires to be a part of the movement of light within the machine of the government and the economy, in education, that that chela might best accomplish this by qualifying himself, educationally and otherwise, to have his job in the world be that which involves the chela in these activities. This is so that the chela will not have to take the hours after work and on weekends to perform the functions in the community for the Matter plane or for the service in government or in industry or elsewhere.
If the chela has a job that is unrelated to some form of contact with the community whereby he is not in a position of influencing, of providing information, or merely of simply keeping the flame, then, you see, there are three different pulls upon his lifestream—the one being to earn his daily bread, another being to measure up to service in the community, and the other to maintain his commitments to the ascended masters.
We believe that two commitments can work for the Keeper of the Flame outside of the Heart Center.2 Keepers of the Flame who are leading lives in the nations ought, then, to consider—as they review their cities, their governments, and the working action of life on earth—what is the best place where you can have your fingertips on the greatest information and where policy is being made and decisions are being made that affect not just one or two but hundreds and thousands and millions of lifestreams.
In other words, our goal is that chelas should be placed in strategic positions throughout the earth and thereby be able to be at the core of those situations that unless acted upon cannot be easily changed.
I ask you, then, as this turn of the year has come and you have the benefit of the resurrection flame and the very concentrated energies of Saint Germain, that you review your life and that you try to see to it that when you are living in the world, at least half of your life can be given to God and half of it to your family, to your job, and through these in the service of the community.
When looking at the goal of the ascension and considering that you are required to balance 51 percent of your karma, you will see that if you take 51 percent of the time available to you in a given day, and if you can use those hours (or concentrated energies equivalent to greater hours) in the service of God in the giving of decrees and the spreading of the teachings, then the other half of your energies or the time [available to you] may be used for the extension of the momentum of our retreat and our instruction on cosmic law to a vast body of embodied mankind.
We encourage you to find ways and means of stepping down this instruction and making it understandable in all areas of human endeavor. Taking the principles of ascended master law, you can then go forth for the resurrection and the reform of fields of concentration, the sciences, theories of economics. You can become involved with labor and the labor movements of the nations, with political parties, and most especially with the running of the local governments and the schools.
Keeping power at the local level so that you may act as an individual to influence policy is top priority from our standpoint in Darjeeling. For once the individual will is surrendered to the collective will that is personalized in the impersonal state, it is then that you lose your ability to work change where change ought to come about.
Therefore you need to be involved at the local level in order to see that your police forces maintain their individuality and are controlled at the local level instead of at the federal level. You need to see that the curriculum of your schools is in the hands of the parents who send their children to those schools. You need to see to it that in all matters, the will of God and flame within your heart is held as the authority for action.
When you move among individuals who have power and not the flame, it is often important to maintain silence, often for extended periods, until you can determine what is the best move. Sometimes it will be a compromise move, but as long as it is in the right direction, it is moving the pathway of light a little closer to realization. Better a little closer than not at all.
And after all, as we say in the Darjeeling Council, we have to work with what we have. We have to work with the lifestreams who are in embodiment, for it is they who control the destiny of nations. Therefore the best fruits of earth’s evolutions are the lifestreams whom we will contact, and often these lifestreams are themselves incapable of understanding the absolute truth. And therefore we must provide a truth that is relative, which is better than no truth at all.
You see, when you become involved in human affairs—as I do because the will of God affects those affairs and because so many chelas direct me into the midst of those affairs—you will realize that the complexities of the human consciousness and that which is the mixture of that human consciousness on earth today is so vast that it defies undoing except by the violet flame and the sacred fire, except by the alchemy of Saint Germain. Where there are not souls to implement this alchemy, we must first go to chelas of the sacred fire to “get the goods,” and the goods are the energies that you release in your decrees.
We would very much like, then, to work with you and through you for the changes that must come about. But because you are not involved in those levels of service in your community, we must take the energy that you invoke and go to the souls who do not invoke the energy and yet are working for change. And as they work for change, we must attempt to inspire them with the right consciousness.
And sometimes where there are heated discussions, great arguments, and momentous decisions, we bring our legions of violet flame and blue lightning angels and they literally pour buckets of blue flame upon the heads of those who are arguing against the light and for the darkness in the midst of these assemblies of mankind.
And if you could see the angelic hosts, how they work so hard with your momentum of energy to move the children of mankind in the right direction! And often this alchemy is just the thing that enables the right legislation or the right decision in the courts to come about.
But then again, often the human will and the human stubbornness is so great that after we have poured forth the unguents of light, we simply stand back and allow these individuals to conclude their deliberations, their deception, their criminal activities against the souls of mankind. And we say, “Alas! If there were but more education, more information, these individuals would not be allowed by the people themselves to get away with what they are practicing against mankind.”
Now, then, in some cases the prospect of educating the people and their representatives is so great that we would rather take those who are already educated in cosmic law and send them forth on that mission to be in the midst so that they can speak the Word and transfer our energy and be on the spot to counteract the Liar and his lie.
We recommend these activities guardedly. For we understand, and we affirm again, that the chela’s first devotion must be to the light, to the ascended masters, to the spreading of the teaching, to his own self-discipline, and to his own ascension. If these are neglected in the service of the community, then truth will be lost! Then the passing of the torch of the teaching for the age will be lost!
For when the individual student neglects his own spiritual development, he soon loses the spirit and the flame of the teaching. And without that flame he is unable to convey that teaching when he is called upon to speak. At that point, his usefulness as an instrument of the Brotherhood becomes nullified and he takes his place alongside those who are in the world and who are becoming a part of that world, even in vibration.
The line is so delicate that Saint Germain and I have talked for many hours and for many years. We have come to the conclusion, however, that it is necessary for the chelas themselves to enter into the discussion as to how life and its energies and its hours are to be arranged so as to make possible the lightbearer having his influence and his say and his word through the media and every form of outreach, of contact.
Therefore we ask that you send your own deliberations as well your experience of your life to the messenger so that a study can be begun that will lead the souls—the many souls who are being brought to this teaching—to a just and practical division of labor, of time and space and of energy.
Where you are able to accelerate and do more in less time, you will find that the more that you do and the more that it counts for life, the more it will supply you with your 51 percent of a daily energy quotient, first in the light and the remainder in the world. We will see, then, that it is not necessarily dividing the hours of the day in half but it is seeing to it that the energy itself is released—a quotient of energy that you can be counted upon to give to the hosts of light and to the people of earth.
*In this dictation, “community” is referring to the local community, where the chela is working or living outside of the community of the Holy Spirit that is the organization’s headquarters.

1. The Temple of Good Will is the retreat of the Master El Morya. It is located in the etheric realm in the foothills of the Himalayas above the city of Darjeeling, India. 2. The Heart Center. This name was given to the mansion in Colorado Springs, known as La Tourelle, which once served as headquarters of The Summit Lighthouse.
