All Outer Accomplishment
Must Be the Product of Inner Attainment

Know What It Is to Have the True Humility of the Christed One

Part 2

Now, I would warn and I would caution you against the sin that is the fall of the fallen ones, that is their downfall, which is the sin of ambition.

Ambition can be a deadly manifestation and form of the ego. Spiritual zeal and the zealous heart can go over the boundaries of zeal and become that ambition which is the downfall of the soul.

Ambition for outer accomplishment must be balanced in all diligence against the pursuit of inner attainment. The fire of the heart must be fanned. The desire to be humble before God and to carry a flame must be nourished. And the balance of the [threefold] flame—through knowledge of the wisdom of the Law, through application to his will, and through a fiery devotion that subordinates the lesser will of the lesser self to the will of God and to the service of hierarchy—must also be nourished.

Understand, then, that all outer accomplishment must be the product of inner attainment, else that accomplishment will be stripped from you in the day of judgment.

I would point out to you the development of the Catholic Church. I would point out the accomplishment of edifices, of cathedrals, of works of art in every nation, in every city. And yet I would show you the emptiness of the churches, the failure through ignorance, through depriving mankind of the knowledge of the Christ. And so there is a structure that is devoid of the Spirit in many areas, but not all.

You see, then, how it is possible through ambition for mankind in their zeal to accomplish in an outer way. But if the spirit be impoverished, if the communication with Almighty God be absent, if those who are in the avant-garde of the organization of the ascended masters’ activity lose the perspective of humility in the service of the Christ, then, you see, there will be a similar result of outer attainment that will crumble because of a lack of inner spiritual application and reality.

And then there is the attempt by those who are practical in precipitation to hold the balance for those who are not practical. And this is necessary, as you are all cells in the body of the Mother. Those who are practical in working the works of God must account for their brethren who keep the fires and the flame fanned and yet who know not how to expand in a concrete way. One holds the balance for the other, and all move together as one body.

I say, then, come together for the interchange of the flow of energy. And by love share one another’s graces, one another’s attainment, so that a part of the body may be here and a part of the body may be there, all working together for the leavening of the consciousness of mankind.

You see, we are preparing also. We are preparing initiations for those who would run in the race. We are preparing our ministers. We are training those who aspire to serve in this capacity. We are also planning for the day when thousands and millions demand the teaching. And we see that when that day comes, the energy of these millions, with their own untransmuted substance, will have to be borne by those in the center of the mandala. Those in the nucleus will be the Keepers of the Flame who hold the balance while the millions come into the teachings and [eventually come to] that time when they themselves, by their own decree momentum, can transmute their own carnal-mindedness, their own past karma.

In that hour, then, when you are called upon as the fiery nucleus to hold the balance for hundreds of thousands whose attention is directly upon you, you will need to be strong—strong in your attunement with the inner light. You will need to know your God. You will need to have developed a momentum of communion with your God.

And thus the Darjeeling Council and the Karmic Board recommended the dictation of the Maha Chohan so that you might understand how the most personal aspect of God can walk with you as the Holy Spirit, as friend and teacher each step of the way. You need to cultivate that contact. You need to have joy in that contact with God, with hierarchy. For when the doubts, the anxieties, the mass confusion, the condemnation of the messenger, the questioning of the teaching descends as an onslaught from thousands, do you understand that it is your contact with hierarchy that will sustain you?

Do you understand that it was Jesus’ contact with Maitreya, with the angelic hosts, with Almighty God that sustained him in the Garden and on the cross? Do you not see that the meshing of consciousness with the ascended masters through the sacred fire seals you as unascended ones in the fiery core, where you will remain protected, inviolate, in harmony, in love?

So now is the testing. Now is the acceleration. Now is the acceptable time to enter into that very personal relationship with the ascended masters. This is why we have built slowly and securely our foundation. For we desire to know that at each step of the way our chelas will not be overcome by the mass consciousness. For we are responsible for our chelas, for their initiations, and for their ascension. And we will not sacrifice you to the wolves of the human consciousness. We prefer to have one ascension and to have that ascension rather than to lose that soul by overburdening the soul in service, a service for which she is not prepared.

Therefore, as you aspire to serve mankind, know that if you would preach to the multitudes from the hillsides of the world, you must be ready to bear the sins of the world, as Jesus did. This simply means that while you are speaking forth the Word of the Christ and reaching the heart [of an individual], you must carry the weight of opposition within that individual to his own light—the momentum of Antichrist personified in the electronic belt. And this is what is carried by the Mother and by certain devotees and members of the Order of the Sons and Daughters of the Dominion of the water element, this carrying of the world weight.¹

And so, understand that this is a very special service that is rendered by the messenger, by Keepers of the Flame everywhere, and that it is as much a part of hierarchy and of the organization as are the more obvious [services, such as the] publications, lectures, tours and dictations. The holding of the balance of a planet—this is the role of Keepers of the Flame.

So I have come, and my word has been an opportunity that must be seized so that you might enter into unity with the Presence.

In order to seize opportunity, you must invoke God-vision, God-discrimination, and the perspective that is needed at every hour. Then you will have the dispensation of writing on the clean white page, which is an unusual dispensation that comes not every year, a dispensation which, if seized, will mean the dissolving of certain past records, the stepping up of your cycles, and the shortening of the days for the elect.

And finally, I have warned you of the sin of ambition. Be careful that your ambition to expand the work does not exceed your inner attainment and your desire to be filled with the Holy Spirit.

I would point out to you that the most influential group of Christians since the time of the coming of Jesus has not been that which has been the organized outer thrust but the nucleus of those who formed the Essene community. It has been those whose teachings have come down through the mystery schools and who have kept the flame. It has been their consciousness and their light that has kept the light of the Christ.

And therefore, if there is a choice to be made, the choice must always be to keep the flame of your own temple, to keep the sacred fire in your own heart and to know that that is what will result in expansion. Then let that fire flow, and see how outer accomplishment will be manifested, how you will see the structure expand and the outreach expand.

So I say, the conquering of Mater is necessary, and it is fulfilled through the alchemy of the Spirit. So let the masculine and feminine aspects of being flow in a parallel manner, and never lose sight of the real goal—your ascension and the ascension of all mankind.

So, then, I have come with a bit of wisdom, a bit of warning, and a mighty opportunity. I come for the Karmic Board. I come for Saint Germain. I come because I delight in the joy of your souls. And in the name of the living God, I challenge the Fallen One who has attempted to inject the seeds of spiritual pride into the midst of the body of lightbearers.²

So, now, by the fohat of the ascended messenger, let those seeds be dissolved and let Keepers of the Flame the world around know what it is to have the true humility of the Christed One.

Attunement

“The Summit Lighthouse Sheds Its Radiance o’er All the World to Manifest as Pearls of Wisdom.”

This dictation by Portia was delivered by the Messenger of the Great White Brotherhood Elizabeth Clare Prophet on Tuesday, December 31, 1974,during the New Year’s class, New Beginnings in the Flame of the Holy Spirit, held at the Anaheim Convention Center, Anaheim, California. [N.B. Bracketed words have been added for clarity in the written word.] Part 1 of this Pearl of Wisdom is published in this volume, no. 7.

1.Order of the Sons and Daughters of the Dominion of the water element was founded by Mother Mary in 1972 for those who would elect to master energy in motion, or the emotions. It was a spiritual order for men and women who were pledged to the service of the Mother through their vows to take dominion over the elements, the astral plane and lunar energies, and gain self-mastery in matter. This holy order has been inactive since the 1980s.

2. The Fallen One who has attempted to inject the seeds of spiritual pride. On April 11, 1974, Archangel Michael came with his sword of blue flame raised high “for the action of cutting free mankind from the…deceits that have been practiced by the rebellious ones against innocent child-man century after century after century.” He told us: “When the rebellious ones insert the seeds of pride, then they can move mankind on their chessboard by the patterns of flattery and the adornment of the ego…. This is the plight of mankind who think that they are garbed in white and in beautiful raiment…when they are naked and without the wedding garment, without the seamless energies that flow from the Christ,…from the pure in heart and from those who have understood the meaning of sacrifice. For to sacrifice the ego that the divine one might appear, this is the need of the hour.” In a dictation in 1992, Lord Krishna spoke of the fallen ones who inject the seeds of pride into the lightbearers. He asked that we “invoke all the powers of the heavens and of eternity that are of God-manifestation for the binding of the dweller-on-the-threshold of every lightbearer and servant of God…especially for the binding in this hour of all seeds of pride of Lucifer and Satan and the fallen ones that have been sown in the genes and in the garments of these lightbearers.” In a dictation in 1996, El Morya told us: “We have come with the judgment of those Luciferians and their pride and the seed of pride in all in whom they have placed it. We have come with that call for that labor [a focused spiritual action on this issue] because that is what…can avert war.” (Pearls of Wisdom: Krishna, vol. 35, no. 8; El Morya, vol. 46, no. 42)
